Behind the Scenes Spotlight: Chris Sanders

Chris Sanders with wife, Wendy, and their three sons

Chris Sanders, Collins Group Realty’s Client Market Advisor, and valuable member of the Hilton Head Listings Team, is the ultimate family man and one of the most hard working individuals! He has a drive to always give his best while diligently seeking ways to go further and do better than the last time. He is also extremely thorough and thoughtful in his work! Chris is tremendous asset to our clients as he continually studies the real estate market in Hilton Head, sending updates and news to current listing clients. Chris also prepares full market analysis reports for clients as they consider putting their property on the market. With a background in real estate appraisals, there is no one better for this position.

Chris and his wife, Wendy, have three fantastic boys: twins, Chase and Weston, are rising sophomores at Clemson University, and Griffin is a rising freshmen of Hilton Head High School.

Chris is so thoughtful and brilliant at writing. His answers to our questions are a treat to read…enjoy!:

Favorite restaurant in the Lowcountry? I must confess that I love to eat, and there are far too many favorite restaurants for me to name just one… Vine down in Coligny is always a home run on a special night (tight quarters, but excellent food and service).  For Pizza night we tend to gravitate to Local Pie down on the South end.  Holy Tequila is a great spot for tacos and margaritas (a great evening experience especially with Enrique on the guitar) – crazy good!  Lowcountry Backyard off Palmetto Bay Road is a hidden gem with some of the best food around!  And last but not least, Hudsons continues to be a great place for seafood, and they really took the bar/dock area to a new level after the storm!

Favorite “tourist” spot to go?  South Beach Marina (by boat) is a long time favorite, and of course the beach!

Favorite “local” spot to go?  Does the boat count?  If so, I must say that my favorite “local spot” would be out on the water!  I cherish every opportunity to jump on the boat with my family… spending the day (as well as many starry nights) out on the water.  That is the best place to watch the fireworks in July and we are always searching for that next secret fishing spot!  The adventures on the water never seem to end – it’s my happy place!

What book(s) are you reading right now?  Essentialism by Greg McKeon.  That one came as a recommendation by Webb Simpson during last year’s FCA Heritage Breakfast.

What hobby are you most passionate/excited about? What do you love most about it? Ok, the easy answer to this would be boating, right… but you already know that about me.  So if I dig deep and get somewhat transparent,  I would have to admit that I have a passion for firewood… yep, seasoning freshly cut wood in the backyard, and then splitting/stacking for the (although rather short) winter.  The chainsaw is my buddy as the temperatures drop, and I love the smell of fresh sawdust.  But since our winters seem to really only last a “few weeks”… I tend to begin enjoying the fruit of my labor in the fall when my CLEMSON TIGERS are playing football.  I mean, what could be better than a Saturday night Clemson game on a cool fall evening with a nice fire and some roasted/smoked oysters right off the pit… That is, after a successful fishing excursion earlier in the day!
