Collins Group Realty announced three grant recipients of their 200th Home Sale for Charity program. The donations were presented at an inaugural awards presentation with many local non-profit organizations in attendance.
Earlier this year, over 40 local non-profits submitted a grant application for their specific project requiring financial support. After careful consideration, the Grant Selection Committee, comprised of 11 volunteers, reviewed the grants, selecting the top 2 winners and 10 finalists that would vie for a viewers’ choice award.
The Bluffton Jasper Volunteers in Medicine have been awarded the grand prize of a $5,000 grant. This substantial contribution will cover the cost of diabetes treatment for 180 patients over the course of one year, reinforcing the organization’s commitment to providing essential medical care to the community.
The Hunger Coalition of the Lowcountry, also known as Backpack Buddies, is the recipient of a $3,000 grant. These funds will be utilized to stock snack closets at public schools on the Island. Social workers at the public schools will distribute healthy snacks to children in need throughout the school day, ensuring that students can concentrate on their studies without the distraction of hunger.
Jasper Animal Rescue Mission was voted by the public to receive the $2,000 grant. This grant will be instrumental in acquiring a new storage shed to house medical supplies, office supplies, and donated goods for the animals under their care. The increased storage capacity will enable the organization to continue its vital work in supporting and caring for animals in need.
