Event Spotlight: Winter Wonder Festival – Dec. 7 – Hilton Head, SC

We may not get to have fun snowball fights or Jack Frost nipping at our noses like our friends in northern states tell us they can’t get enough of, but then again, we don’t have to worry about wet, messy tasks like shoveling snow or trying to get around on slippery, icy roads.

We also don’t need snow to put together one heck of a pre-Christmas celebration, like the upcoming Hilton Head Island Winter Wonder Festival.

This year’s gathering runs from 4-8 p.m. Saturday Dec. 7 at Shelter Cove Community Park, and includes plenty of food, activities, music and fun for the entire family.

A $10 admission for each child ages 2-15 gives them access to many exciting things to do, including carnival games, hayrides, face painting, Christmas tree decorating, crafts, and more.

Visitors can enjoy traditional Christmas treats such as s’mores and hot chocolate, or other kid-friendly favorites like hot dogs and pizza.

There’s a children’s parade scheduled at 4:45 p.m., and a Golden Candy Hunt, which starts at 5:30 p.m.

Finally, you can’t have a Christmas party – even in the sunny Carolinas – without having Santa Claus, so the jolly man in the red suit is even scheduled to make an appearance.

Who It Helps

Proceeds from the annual gathering sponsored by Pink magazine benefit the Hilton Head Island Recreation Association Children’s Scholarship Fund, a worthwhile organization that helps plenty of kids in our community.

The nonprofit association offers all sorts of wellness activities and recreational opportunities for all ages, including sports programs, camps and more.

In addition to the Winter Wonder Festival, other upcoming programs the association will be offering include Snow Day in January. For more details or to be a part of the fun, visit
