If you are a lover of Mexican cuisine, than Cinco de Mayo is your holiday! Of course, no Cinco de Mayo celebration is complete without its iconic cocktail…the Margarita! Personally, I’m not sure there is anything better than a classic Margarita (on the rocks with salt…of course!), but if you are looking for something with a little twist try some of these below!
Passion Fruit Margarita
1 cup tequila
1 cup passion fruit nectar
¼ cup orange-flavored liqeur
2 teaspoons superfine sugar
Pinch of salt
Shake well, then pour into 4 short glasses filled with crushed ice
Jalepeno Margarita
1 thin slice jalapeño
Handful of celery leaves
6 ounces fresh lime juice
Spoonful of confectioners’ sugar
Blend jalapeño, celery leaves, lime juice and sugar in a blender. Mix with 16 ounces tequila and 8 ounces orange liqueur in a pitcher, chill, and serve on the rocks with salt-rimmed glasses
Pineapple-Chili Margaritas
Wet the rim of 4 short glasses and dip in a mixture of 2 tablespoons coarse salt and 1 ½ teaspoons chili powder
Fill a cocktail shaker two-thirds of the way with ice and add the following:
1 cup tequila
1 cup pineapple juice
½ cup fresh lime juice
½ tablespoon agave nectar
Shake well and strain into glasses
