The expansion of the Hilton Head Island Airport runway in June 2018 has made it possible for larger aircraft to travel directly to and from Hilton Head Island Airport from seven major hub cities.
Since the expansion, the airport has seen a 225% increase in passengers. More than 96,000 passengers traveled through HHH during the first half of 2019. By comparison, the total number of enplanements and deplanements in 2018 was 78,795.

$10 Million Grant
The U.S. Department of Transportation awarded Hilton Head Island Airport a $10 million grant for “infrastructure investment.” The grant funds will be used for a terminal expansion, ”specifically targeting increased airline traffic, meeting the needs of a growing number of airline customers…” The project is on a 3 to 4 year projected timeline, including projects like adding new ticketing counters for Delta and United Airlines. Plus, concessions and convenience shopping.
Getting To and From Hilton Head Airport
While there are no shuttles from HH Airport, car rentals are available from all major rental car providers.
If you choose to park your car at the airport while you travel, parking is $10/day. But it is important to keep in mind the limited number of parking spaces available.
