Whether you’re thinking of putting your house on the market this Fall, or simply in the need for some TLC around the homefront, we think you’ll find this list of Top 20 “to do’s” a helpful tool. Spring and Fall tend to be months of motivation due to cooler temps and the change of season seems to bring with it a freshness and revitalization.
Things like painting your house numbers (or mailbox! don’t forget that), and replacing your doormat, maybe don’t make your regular maintenance schedule, but they’re easy to do.
It’s also a great time to list your home for sale here in the Lowcountry. We get asked all the time, “When is the best time to list my house for sale?” Unlike our friends to the North, we don’t experience a winter slow-down. In fact, the real estate market remains rather steady throughout the year in our little corner of coastal South Carolina.
This chart represents the number of new listings (blue) and the number of homes that went under contract (grey) in their respective months throughout all of 2017. Surprising, right?
What’s may not be surprising is the slowdown of new listings around the year-end holidays… we call this a time of distraction. Most for seller’s because if you look again, you’ll see how the number of homes that went under contract far outweighs the number of homes that came on the market in October, November, AND December. Perhaps Fall is the perfect time to list your home after all, when there are less new listings on the market to compete with.
So, ride that motivation all the way to listed and SOLD. And, as always, let us know how we can help you achieve your real estate goals.
