It’s warming up – time to hit the beach! And what wonderful beaches they are! As a local, I long for more time to spend at our beach, but sometimes life just gets in the way. If only I lived a little closer to the beach, or better yet, in a beachfront home! But, we can’t have everything – so alas, we pack up the SUV and head down to soak up the sun and watch the kids boogie board and build sand castles for hours on end.
There is nothing like putting your toes in the sand with the sound of the waves crashing on the shore.
How fortunate we are to live in Hilton Head Island, named the #1 Beach in Southern Living’s “South’s Best Beaches” polling. We went up against 11 Southern states with shoreline on the Atlantic and Gulf Coasts. And for reasons (and memories) we carry deep in our hearts – Hilton Head is at the top of the list. My guess is when faced with the question, nostalgia won out. Afterall, Hilton Head is a place where families come back year-after-year. Where children have grown up spending their summers for too many years to admit. Many who now call the Island their home.
The sun and the waves are calling – time to head to the beach.
