Collins Group Realty, and one of their clients, had the distinct pleasure of interviewing with The Wall Street Journal for a feature piece in The Mansion section of the newspaper.

The feature story highlights buying trends where homeowners who can afford oceanfront properties are opting for the quiet, calm of lagoons and other waterfront settings instead.

That is exactly what happened with CGR clients, Mark and Simone Bye, in their most recent home search. They shared in the article that they chose a deep water home on Sea Pines’ Calibogue Cay Road (pictured above during their son’s recent wedding) because it felt more like a community where they would be surrounded by neighbors compared to the short-term rental market/second-home feel sometimes sensed along the oceanfront.

Chip Collins was interviewed stating:

“Historically in Hilton Head, oceanfront has been king but it has a challenger now. On the Deep Water we’ve seen some dramatic jumps in value from one sale to another.”
