Developed in 1953 by Hilton Head Company, Folly Field was home to the first beach cottages on the island. Nestled between Palmetto Dunes and Port Royal, Folly Field is located mid-island and is convenient to the shopping, dining and entertainment venues of Shelter Cove. Villa complexes and more single-family houses line Folly Field Road all the way to the beach, where you begin to see larger homes typical of Hilton Head’s luxury reputation.
Near the Folly Field Beach area, is the Islander’s Beach Park, which allows permit parking, and offers playgrounds, picnic areas, and a boardwalk to the beach. Hilton Head Beach and Tennis Resort is also located in Folly Field, as well as the still-under-development Sandcastles by the Sea community. You can also find fun places and activities for everyone in the family such as Adventure Cove, where there is miniature golf and an arcade!

Amenities
Beach Access Folly Field is located just along the beaches of Hilton Head Island. Most of the houses and communities in the area are biking or walking distance to the beach. Enjoy access to the multiple beach paths located at the end of Folly Field Road equipped with a wooden boardwalk bridge, beach matted paths, restrooms, sand showers, a water fountain and soda machine.
Islanders Beach Park One of the most popular beach parks on the island, Islanders is the perfect place to spend a long day at the beach! The picnic pavilion and grill make it a great beach to go to for a long day outdoors, and the restrooms and outdoor showers make it possible. Islanders Beach is wheelchair accessible, with a boardwalk bridge and beach matting leading to the ocean. There are shaded tables for lunch as well as a playground for kids to enjoy when the sand just becomes too much. Metered parking spaces are available along with permit parking for the locals, and bike racks are also available to anyone riding.
Tennis The Hilton Head Beach and Tennis Resort is located entirely in the Folly Field neighborhood. There are ten lighted, hard-surfaced courts available for matches and/or lessons.
