Where is it?
Believe it or not, it’s a skating rink in Harbour Town! Utilizing the technology of synthetic ice, which is slightly less slippery and not cold, the rink will be open from 11am to 9pm starting on December 22nd and running through New Year’s Eve. The cost to enjoy this Lowcountry rarity is $12 for adults and $8 for kids 12 and under (skates are provided).

Lowcountry Living
Having grown up in Milwaukee I will admit that I always feel a bit wistful this time of year for the snow and cold of Christmas’ past. There’s nothing like watching softly falling snow sparkle amongst the twinkling lights on Christmas Eve and singing along to “Let it Snow” while expecting the latest batch of flurries to arrive. Those melancholy feelings, however, have a tendency to disappear when I hear that my old hometown is expecting blizzard-like conditions as they are today. Warm fuzzy feelings of building snowmen and drinking cocoa gives way to memories of cold wet feet, hip-high snowdrifts and the not-so-delightful sound of snowplows scraping concrete at 5am. On my run this morning I was once again reminded of why I made the move to the Lowcountry nearly 8 years ago and how lucky I am to live in a place where 40 degrees is considered cold! Happy Holidays wherever you find yourself this year!
